Ian's Trip to Disneyland

We are a little late posting these photo's of Ian's birthday trip to Disneyland in California, but know that he did have a great time! Ian had breakfast with many of the Disney characters and rode some of the super fast rides, including the 'Space Mountain' rollercoaster. Oh, and Mom and Dad had a great time too :-)

Next week Ian is off to Colorado to go skiing with his girlfriend Jessica.

Birthday Bowling

It's Ian's birthday next weekend, so to start the celebrations off early, Ian took a few friends out bowling. Clearly they had lots of fun, and Power Rangers cake with blue frosting (thus blue tongues!) rounded off a nice afternoon along with some wonderful gifts including Power Rangers masks. This week Ian heads to Los Angeles to see his buddy Wesley. Then it's off to Disneyland for a big birthday treat :-)

Happy New Year!

Ian is now back from his christmas and new year vacation. Skiing in Sun Valley proved to be a terrific time, with Ian joined by six of his girl friends who travelled from Thailand and England to have fun on the ski slopes. Not only did Ian get to ski, he ice skated and had fun in the snow.

Getting ready for the holidays ...

With only a few days now until christmas Ian is getting excited not just for the possible visit from santa but also for Ian's ski trip to Sun Valley with lots of his friends (6 girls in fact!). Yesterday Ian went to see the Nutcracker with Mom & Dad and really enjoyed himself. What a great show it was. In today's photo, we see Ian in his annual school photo. Doesn't he look like a proper little boy now?! Lot's of new photos coming in the next few days as we head into the end of year.

Aloha!

Ian took a vacation to Hawaii at the beginning of the month. What a great time he had! A gorgeous beach, warm ocean and terrific swimming pool kept Ian very busy. Ian rode the slide at the pool so many times that we lost count. At 'Kids Club' Ian got to fish and play games while Mom & Dad enjoyed a cocktail or too by the pool. Mom even got to take a surfing lesson (and did quite well too). The highlight of the vacation was a helicopter tour over one of the islands, to see the beautiful watrefalls, remote beaches and spectacular sea cliffs. It was Ian's first helicopter ride, and having a front seat made it an even better trip.

Fire Dragons!

Ian has played soccer this year, in a competitive league for U6. His team is called the Fire Dragons and they had quite the season, with a team of six who played 3 on 3. Ian is all revved up now to play again next season, especially as he scored his first goal on the last day of the season!

Sleepless in Seattle

Ian went with Mom, Dad, Nanny and Grandad for a weekend trip to Seattle. We had a great time, walking the city, dining and shopping. For Ian, one of the highlights was a trip to the Museum of Flight at the Boeing Airfield and a trip to the famous Pike's Market. At the museum, Ian got to sit in the cockpit of a US Air Force 'Stealth' Bomber, went on Air Force One and saw some awesome spaceships too. Way cool. Ian also went to the top of the Space Needle, with terrific views from 520' feet up looking over Seattle.

On top of the mountain!

Ian went up Bogus Basin ski mountain last weekend to enjoy the views and cooler air. Nanny and Grandad came along too on what is only a short drive from our house. How lucky we are! We also see Ian enjoying an ice cream at his favorite ice cream shop .... and yes, it got very messy since it was a such a warm evening.

Boise Ballon Festival Fun!

Ian, Nanny Margaret (who is visiting this month) and Dad got up extra early on Saturday to watch the wonderful balloons take off in the annual 'Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic'. What a gorgeous morning it was, with perfect blue sky and a slight chill to the morning that quickly warmed up as the sun rose over the foothills. And yes, now Ian wants to go up in a balloon!

Camping at the lake

Ian went on his first camping trip this past weekend. We camped by the lake so Ian could also try his hand at fishing, which he enjoyed despite not catching anything. We also got to bury Ian in the sand too, but he managed to wriggle free!

Summer Fun!

Ian is having a blast this summer. Horse riding, rafting, riding the gondola at Sun Valley, swimming (lots of swimming!) and hanging with friends and family. Just what summer should be!

Happy July 4th

Yesterday we celebrated July 4th in style. Ian, Mom and Dad took part in the neighborhood parade, by decorating our bikes ... and of course the rickshaw! It was a beautifully sunny day, hot too and lots of fun was had by all. Ian can be seen in our photos with his buddies (and neighbors) Cooper, Dillon and Josh.

Spring Event at School ...and bike riding (at last!)

Mom and Dad went to see Ian at his spring school fund raiser last week. It was a beautiful evening for the outdoor event, with games and a small song and dance performance given by all the children. Ian played lots of games and hung out with various school friends. It was all a lot of fun.

Ian has also been learning to ride his bike and finally went 'solo' this past weekend. No longer does Dad need to run along behind holding the 'handle' to keep him upright! Dad is now planning a mountain biking expedition (ok, not quite just yet!).

Gym Night!

Ian has being going to gymnastics classes after school this semester. Not only does he enjoy it, but he's also rather good (if we may say so!). His head-stands are the best in the class! Ian loves all the different aparatus he can use and gets excellent tuition on how to use them too. Given Ian's size, he is a powerful little gymnast so maybe this is one sport that he may be rather good at if he decides to stick at it and practice. We'll see ...

Just hangin' this weekend

Ian and Dad hung out this weekend, as Mom is still away. Ian got his hair cut at his favorite salon where he get's to sit in a 'chair' that is an ATV bike while he gets trimmed. I also went bowling and played air hockey with Dad (and won!). Oh, and a little tresspassing doesn't hurt either, eh?!

Easter Egg Hunt!

OK, so it's a bit early we know, but Ian took part in the neighborhood easter egg hunt today, along with dozens of other kids. Ian scoured the village green for eggs, collecting several in his basket before meeting the Easter Bunny who was on hand to oversee the proceedings.

Discovering Fun!

Ian and Dad went to the Boise Discovery Center at the weekend. What a great place, with over 150 'hands on' experiements for us to play with. Ian bounced from one experiment to another, twisting, turning, twisting, blowing, pushing and generally interacting with all the fun things to do. There was even a mini-supermarket for kids to shop and scan their own shopping. He reluctantly left after a several hours of fun, with only one question ... "when can we come back?!"

Ian went to California with Mom for Spring Break (alas Dad had to work). As you can imagine he had a great time, visiting with his friends as well as going to Sea World to see 'Shamu' the whale and hang out with Elmo!

Skiing, Sunshine, and Rickshaw's

Ian's girlfriend Jessica visited from the UK this past week along with Fiona (Mom) and Colin (Dad). As always, it was great to see them all and Ian and Jess had a blast as you'll see from the photo's. They make quite the couple, playing nicely most of the time and sharing their toys, always taking their favorite cuddly pets along with them everywhere.

Ian and Jessica both took ski lessons while the Mom's and Dad's went off to explore the mountains. We also rode a sleigh to dinner one night and Ian got to take the reins, and we did a little bowling that added to the competitive spirit of the week too.

And what ski trip would be complete without a ride on the Rickshaw on the final day of Jessica's trip?! Colin got to peddle it this time (now ask him just how hard it is to ride!).

Happy Birthday Ian!

Ian turned five years old on Saturday. To celebrate, Ian took Mom and Dad to Legoland in California followed by dinner at the famous 'Corvette Diner' in Ocean Beach. What a blast we all had including Maria and Sarah who joined us for some fun in the theme park. We rode many of the rides, flew the Lego helicopters, saw the Fireman show (Ian's favorite!), met 'Bob the Builder' and of course left the park with a big box of Lego for Ian to build. Most of all now Ian enjoys telling everyone he is 5!

Ian learns to ski

Ian went to Sun Valley last week and enjoyed his first ever ski lesson. His instructor, Everett, was patient as was Ian as they embarked on two 3-hour lessons culminating in Ian being able to ski down the 'bunny' slope unaided. He did real well and has a great base upon which now he can build. With all the snow we're getting here in the resorts, we're in for a great season! And of course, what Blog posting would ever be complete without Ian and Mommy posing in the beautiful sunshine in front of the Sun valley Inn?! Happy New Year everyone ..... may we enjoy another year of Ian's antics on his Blog site! :-)

Ian's had his Tonsils out!

On Monday Ian went into surgery and had both his tonsils and adenoids taken out. It was a simple, quick and successful procedure and Ian was home in no time at all. Recovery has been difficult though as Ian has been a stubborn patient, refusing to take his medicine! Hours of persuasion later and we've made progress as has Ian's recovery with today seeing him starting to get back to his old self, poor thing! In our photo's we see Ian getting ready for surgery and afterwards being comforted by Mom in the recovery ward.

Snowmen and Christmas Trees

Ian took Mom & Dad to see a Christmas Tree that he had helped decorate at school. Not only was the tree good, but it won a Best in Show Award, that Ian stands so proudly next to. And then it snowed and Ian built a snowman on the front yard, complete with hat, scarf and carrot for the nose (what else?!).

Happy Halloween!

Yes, we all dressed up and went Trick n' Treating in the neighborhood! And yes, the Rickshaw came too, along with Cooper and Dylan, Ian's friends and neighbors. We had a blast and most importantly, Ian got a ton of candy! We also see Ian with his friends Benjamin and Mikala hanging out just a few days before Halloween.

At the Pumpkin Patch

Ian was very excited yesterday as we all went to Berry Farm and rode the hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Ian then spent several minutes deciding which pumpkin he wanted. Of course he chose the biggest he could find, and one that he couldn't carry despite the warning posted in the field!

Ian had a blast this weekend enjoying some gorgeous fall weather and hanging out the front of the house with his buddy, Cooper. The scooters were out for a little bit of racing as was Ian's Radio Flyer wagon, which all made for a fun afternoon.

Pumpkin Picking!

Yes, the pumpkins are ready for harvesting. Ian went to the Idaho Botanical Gardens today and picked a pumpkin, which he then enjoyed painting. Given the super warm days we've enjoyed, it didn't take long to dry either (you'll see Ian's handi-work on a plate with his name on in our photos, above)! Ian is very proud of his pumpkin and we rather think we'll all be doing more pumpkin painting before the month is over.

Out at the Vineyard!

Ian enjoyed a nice Sunday afternoon drive to the vineyards with Nanny Margaret and Grandad Paddy, who both go back home this weekend. It's been so much having them to stay. Ian will miss them!

We think we're settled back in now!

OK, so a long time since our last post but know we've been very busy getting settled back into Idaho life. Ian has now started school and Dad is back into the swing of work again, while Mom has found new Pilates classes to go to. Nanny and Grandad are visiting Ian currently, so you'll see a photo of Ian with Nanny among our recent batch of shots. Last weekend was particularly good, with stunning fall weather in the Idaho mountains by Lake Payette where we enjoyed a terrific weekend away. Ian got to kayak with Mom and Dad. Earlier in the month Ian got to play on the Rickshaw with Hunter and Noah as well as hang with his buddies at the Zoo. It's been a fun few weeks!

Kite Flying in Ireland

Ian is having tons of fun on vacation. Kite flying has been the order of the day so far, given the terrific (and warm) atlantic breezes we've been enjoying. We also got to teach Ian all about sea fishing as we're staying in a harbour where the fishermen unload and keep their nets, which Ian has enjoyed playing among!

England, Ireland .... on vacation!

We've been to England last week and had a great time catching up with family and friends. Ian got to hang out with Kizzie, Tilly and Jessica (all pictured) as well as dress up as 'Fireman Sam' as he visited the West Yorks Fire Brigade open day. Ian's uniform was made especially for him in Thailand - doesn't he look the part?!

In Ireland we've headed west to the beautiful town of Westport and spent a lovely day touring on Friday, with a visit to Kylemore Abbey with Barbara's family (pictured) as well as spending the day in the gorgeous victorian gardens at the Abbey discovering new plants and mushrooms, which Ian found fascinating.

Bye-Bye Thailand!

Yes after 3 glorious years we've finally said goodbye to Thailand - well for now at least. Our final weekend was full of fun and many social events. The biggest possible send-off came on Friday night as Steve's team gathered at a terrific beach resort and said farewell like never before! We all dressed in traditional Thai costumes as you can see from our photo's. You'll also see Steve with his assistant, Pae who has always been such a great friend to Ian whenever we have travelled on business events. It was a sensational evening and one we'll never forget.

We are now in the UK en-route to Ireland for a vacation then homeward bound to Boise later this month so there will be plenty more posts of Ian as he winds his way back across the globe home.

Ian Graduates, Dad's Rickshaw and ...... we're coming home!

It's been a busy month since our Japan vacation. The big news is that we're headed home to Boise! Dad's 3-year contract term ends in July and with a new opportunity awaiting in the US, we'll be headed back home to begin the next exciting phase of adventure in our lives. We're really excitied to be coming home, but sad to be leaving such a wonderful country and region, as well as some fantastic people we've met and worked with in our time here.

We had the packers here 2 weeks ago so all our stuff is now on a ship headed home. This shipment includes one of Dad's recent acquisitions ... a fully restored 25-year old rickshaw, saved from the streets of Bangkok. This item has created much humour among friends such that one of Dad's parting gifts was a cartoon portraying Dad atop his new 'bicycle' - both the cartoon and real thing we see in our photo's today.

Ian also graduated from his Kindergarten class yesterday and we see Ian pictured with his class and receiving his diploma as well as with a proud Mommy. Well done Ian!

Kyoto is fun!

We're enjoying ourselves in Kyoto! How could you not, when the Kobe Beef is so good?! Ian's been to Tepanyaki style dinner twice this week, and now has had a taste of the famous Kobe Beef. Wow, it's good here!

Ian has also been to Nijo Castle in central Kyoto, a 400 yeard-old Shogun castle in fabulous condition, a national heritage site and with beautiful and nearly perfect gardens. Today Ian visited the 'Golden Pavilion' or Rokuon-Ji Temple as it is known locally. It is made of pure gold and looks stunning in the sunlight.

Ian is currently into fire engines (and 'Fireman Sam' for those of you who know this lovable TV character!) so what better treat for Ian was there than the kind Firemen of the Kyoto Fire Department who let Ian sit in their fire tenders and wear their firman's hat?! Ian loved every minute of it.

"We're turning Japanese, we think we're turning Japanese ... "

We have escaped the disruption and political protests in Bangkok this week by taking a vaction to Japan. We arrived last Saturday and spent a few days in Tokyo where Ian got to visit the Meiji Temple and witness a traditional Japanese wedding. Ian then went to see the Sumo wrestling at the National Stadium and spent some time downtown in the beautiful spring sunshine. Ian then spent the day with Mickey Mouse and freinds at Tokyo's Disneyland and enjoyed a lot of time in Toon Twon with all his favorite Disney pals. Dad managed to visit to famous Tsukiji Fish Market but did so at 4 a.m - as you can imagine, Mom and Ian decided to stay sleeping! We then rode first class on the bullet train to Kyoto yesterday, which is where we are now for the remainder of our vacation. More photos to follow!

Songkran's Over

We're back in Bangkok after a wonderful few days away to celebrate Songkran, the start of the Thai new year. Songkran is a water festival, which means Ian got the chance to play with his water gun and stand on the balcony of our hotel room and soak passers-by which he enjoyed immensely. We stayed at a past favorite of ours from last year, a location that boasts one of the most gorgeous coastal views we've yet to see - it's on the island of Krabi, nestled in one of Thailand's National Parks. Many of our pictures show us simply enjoying the beach, where Ian got to play frisbee with Mom and Dad, hang with the long-tail boats, stroll at sunset along the beach, hang in a hamock with Mom and basically play the clown (which he does so well!!).

Holiday weekend

It's been a long weekend here in Thailand, the first of several in April, which is the high summer season where it gets very, very hot indeed. To escape the heat (and Red Shirt protesters) Ian, Mom and Dad headed for Pranburi, a resort location south of the popular beaches of Hua Hin some 3 hours south of Bangkok. It couldn't have been a better weekend, with a breeze to cool us all and a cloudless sky. We spent time in the pool at our villa and sought shade whenever possible as it was simply too hot much of the time. Ian made several friends at the resort and we see him pictured with a few of them as well as with Mom and Dad at the beachside restaurant.

Singapore Sling!

Ian went to Singapore last weekend. As well as seeing some of his old Bangkok friends, Ian also got an extra treat - Grandad Bob and Sue were in town en-route to New Zealand so Ian got to hang out for the day and have some fun! As well as a long amble around the river walk past the Singapore Parliament, Ian got to ride the 'Flyer' for the second time in a year. Ian also got to have some swimming pool fun, and did so in a pool with one of the nicest views we've ever swam in (the Fullerton Hotel, no less). And what blog post would not be complete without a shot of Ian with Mom, this time hanging out on one of the many historical monuments in this beautiful city?!

International Day

Ian's school had their annual International Day event yesterday. Ian's class has been studying Australia, so we got to see Ian posing as a Koala Bear and Kangaroo, which the class had made as part of their study. Ian then took his 'passport' which each student had, and visited the other 'countries' which the other classes each hosted. Ian got to hang with his buddies, eat popcorn and cakes and generally have a good time. And of course both Mom and Dad were on hand to watch Ian on stage as his class performed a Thai folk song and dance. Ian also had to announce where he is from, electing to state "America, Ireland and England" as his origins, all of whose flags he wore around his neck!

Hua Hin in the wind

We've been to Hua Hin for the long holiday weekend. Hua Hin is a town 2 hours south of Bangkok, famous for its beaches and as a weekend get-away for Bangkokians. We did exactly that this weekend and spent some quality time on the beach and by the pool (as we so often get to do!). Ian has become yet even more accomplished at swimming now, as Dad and Ian spent several hours trawling round the lagoon style pool. Ian swam 20 meters unaided in his longest swim to date.Way to go, son - you'll make the Olympics yet!

We also took a stroll down the beach at sunset and found some fishing boats getting ready to set sail, so Dad and Ian sat on the bow of one boat to watch. You'll see us in today's photos in possibly the windiest of conditions we've had in Thailand. It was a wonderful cooling breeze (read gale!) and most welcomed as it blew Ian's long curly locks in its wake!

Happy New Year (Year of the Tiger, that is)

Ian spent Chinese New Year on the island of Koh Samui with his friends Izzy and Sebi. It was a fantastic weekend, with a perfect combination of sun, sea and poolside fun at one the nicest resorts we yet stayed at in Thailand. Ian got to improve on his swimming skills and play 'defence' at the basket ball net in the pool while Daddy and Dan shot baskets. Ian got to hang out at Monkey Club (the all important Kids Club we always look for whenever we are away!) and went fishing for the first time, getting lucky too!

Happy Birthday Ian!

Ian enjoyed a whole weekend of fun, starting with his birthday on Friday complete with cake at school and presents at home. Ian then had a party on Sunday with 28 of his closest friends (he's a popular boy!) with much fun had by all. Ian had a trick poodle dog show at his party, with 3 little dogs doing lots of jumping tricks. We had lots of goodies and of course a cake (a Ben 10 cake, no less). Happy New Year!

We welcomed in 2010 in the wonderful country of New Zealand, arriving there on new years eve in time for a party and to meet up with our friends Jez and Catherine who were getting married on the island of Waiheke (in the Auckland Bay) that same weekend.

Our trip was fantastic. New Zealand is a gorgeous country, so very scenic with great food, people and of course wine. We are now Pinot Noir fans, having sampled many several of the local varieties there. Ian got to have a ton of fun. We spent time on the beach running, playing cricket, playing in the waves and sightseeing around the island. Ian also had lots of fun playing in and around the vineyard at the location of Jez and Catherine's wedding.

We moved onto Queenstown for the second part of our trip, staying in the mountains and enjoying superb scenery (snow-capped mountains), a trip on a steamship (Ian loved the coal fires), a trip up the gondola to see Queenstown from above and a ride on the luge (hence the helmets) as well. We ate like kings everyday and enjoyed great hospitality everywhere we went. We've way too many photo's to share, so here we'll post just a few of those featuring Ian and the family to enjoy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It's been another wonderful year for our family. As ever travel has dominated our leisure time, with fantastic trips around Asia. We went to Disneyland in Hong Kong, went on the Flyer (ferris wheel) in Singapore, rode elephants in the Golden Triangle on the Thailand/Burma/Laos border, snorkeled in the clear blue sea of Phi Phi islands, and visited Haikou, China with some friends from the UK.

This year's summer vacation took us back to the US to visit Boston, then onto New York City where we took Ian to Times Square and Central Park to see the dinosuars at the Museum of Natural History. We also spent 3 wonderful days on Cape Cod celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary at the resort we were married while back in Boston Steve was able to catch his beloved Red Sox in action on a perfect summer evening at Fenway Park.

Steve also got to hike the trails around the Bridge-on-the-River-Kwai in an exciting trip in upcountry Thailand in April, while Barbara and Ian visited Ireland visiting the lush green hills and beautiful waterfalls of Wexford county.

At school Ian graduated to the next campus and now enjoys new classes in cooking, Tae kwondo and Computers (don't they start early now?!). He's quite a character at school and is loved by all the Teachers as he's always smiling and full of energy. Ian is now swimming and his recent efforts in the 'big pool' means he is only a few short weeks away from being quite an expert.

Barbara took a Pilates Teaching Course earlier this year, studying hard for both written and practical tests and is still enjoying Yoga and Pilates lessons every week to stay as fit and healthy as she can. Steve, despite suffering a broken foot in August competed in his first Triathlon on the island of Phuket earlier this month.

For Christmas this year we will be in the cool mountains of the Khao Yao National Park, arguably our favorite place in Thailand. We're looking forward to the morning mist at sunrise across the jungle valley on Christmas Day! For New Year, we head to New Zealand for a 10-day vacation on both the North and South islands.

To each and every one of you, have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year. We are blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends around the world and a terrific supporting family and we lead a blessed life here in Asia. This has been truly a wonderful adventure that is not yet over though we plan to return the US in 2010 and hope that we can continue to stay in touch with so many of you despite the miles that seperate us.

Party time .....

Ian had a couple of party's this month. Firstly we see Ian with Isabella where Ian went dressed as a Prince to match the Prince & Princess theme. Looking ever so handsome in his 'tux' Ian decides it time to pull a funny face for the camera - what a gem! But doesn't he look cute with with Isabella?

Next Ian's school held the annual Christmas show. The stage was set for several classes to each sing their songs. When Ian's class came up, Ian got a bit of stage fright and didn't manage all the words to the song that he'd been signing at home all week long as he practiced. However, once Ian warmed up to the crowd he soon turned to playing the 'class clown' - can you see him up on stage in the photo above being ever the entertainer and the one trying to be different!

Ian also met Santa and was a lucky boy as he received a special book all about Christmas. We see a very happy Ian and Mom posing together at the end of a terrific schoool christmas schow.

November ....

Just a few 'catch up' photo's and stories to share with you. You'll see a great shot of Ian and Jessica with respective parents on our trip to Hong Kong in late October as we went to say farewell and 'bon voyage' to our wonderful friends Colin and Fiona. Ian will next see Jessica in England (probably) though who knows given all the miles they have both travelled?!

We also see Ian in his Loy Kratong outfit. This annual moon festival is one of Thailand's most colourful, with candle lights and fireworks being a major feature of the event, which was held in early November.

We also see a picture of Ian with his buddy, Pera as they play together on the slide. Ian is never short of a play date and he really enjoys his time with Pera whenever they get the chance to hang.

In the mountains ....

Ian went to the mountains last weekend, one night away was with Dad's Department on the annual Away Day (always lots of fun!). We were in Thailand's Khao Yai National Park, which is also a favourite of Mom & Dad's. The air was so cool, and the skies clear. We stayed at two great resorts which allowed for Ian to have some fun. Jumping in the pool -or more like having Dad throwing him -was one of Ian's highlights (it's the simple things that so often count, eh?! Ian also got to hang out with Dad'd Assistant, Pae who you see Ian with in our photo's.

We're Back!

Sorry for the long break away from the Blog, but since August it's been so very busy. You'll see a number of photo's of Ian in this post enjoying a few activities, including a beach trip to Hua Hin with 'baby Neve' (as Ian calls her!) and her Mommy Michele along with Mom (of course) and Ian lounging by the pool at the Shangri-La hotel in Bangkok. Ian has just returned from the UK having spent a very brief trip there whilst also visiting Grandpa Frank and Grandma Lily in Ireland, who just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary (congratulations, guys!). You'll see a nice family shot too of us all (and rare one as well!).

Look who's taking the photos now!!
Yes, Ian has now mastered Daddy's SLR Camera! Not only does Ian take a really good photo, he gives commands on where to stand and always says "another one" to be sure he gets more than one shot in. It's the way he quickly looks into the back of the camera to see how good his photo's are that makes us laugh the most!

Party time

We had a quick chance to visit with the Boston gang before heading out of New England at a wondeful party hosted by our good friends Jon and Franchesca which allowed us to enjoy a terrific afternoon of fun with plenty of young friends for Ian to hang out with. Great seeing you all guys!

To the Wequassett!

Mom and Dad took Ian the Wequassett Resort on Cape Cod, to revisit where we were married in 2004. Ian had a blast, since we had several visitors join us the resort and enjoyed some great catch-up time with beautiful weather to boot. Uncle Eddie taught Ian to fly a kite on the jetty dock, while Ian also got to play with Matthew and Kevin running around endlessly while we got to hang with Kevin and Matthew's Mom and Dad (Jacqui and Michael). Baby Sarita even stopped by with her Mom and Dad (Ragav and Stacey) to enjoy the wonderful cape cod bay location. Finally Ann and Jim swung by for breakfast on our final day to conclude a wonderful stay in Chatham.

Beantown!

Next on our tour was to Boston, Daddy's favourite city! Daddy took Ian to Boston Public Garden, where we see Ian posing in front of the statue of Washington. A wander around Boston's many sites led to Ian spotting a mini-Baseball player whom he quickly sided up to. Ian found a Fire Engine to play on too. A visit to see Uncle Butter meant a chance to take some snaps on Boston's famous Beacon Hill streets.

After NYC, we all went to Connecticut to visit with Auntie Olive. Then a visit to see Paige and Griffy led to a fun evening for all as Ian got to play with his buddies right up to bedtime (and beyond!).

In the Big Apple!

Next stop for Ian was New York City - yes, the Big Apple! Daddy took Ian to Times Square and then onto the Museum of Natural History at Central park so Ian could see the Dinosaurs. And boy did we see some!!! Ian got to pose on the steps of the Musuem afterwards - don't he look cute?!.

Ian's Big Vacation!

It all started in the UK, with a flying visit to sunny (wet!) Hitchin to see family and friends. Ian got to enjoy some fun in Nana Margarets garden on the skateboard and visit with Grandad Bob and Sue. As ever, Ian got to play Grandad's drums, waking up the neighbors on a Sunday morning!

Ian's Goes to Disney!

We are just back from a long weekend in Hong Kong, mainly to see our very good freinds Colin and Fiona and for Ian to see his girlfriend Jessica! This time we spent a few hours with M-I-C-K-E-Y and friends at DisneyLand and as you'll see for some of our photo's Ian got to meet some of his favourite Disney stars! Upon meeting Winnie, Ian promptly asked "Where's the Hunney!?". His favourite seemed to be Pluto, who he keeps mentioning. Ian also got to ride the Carousel with Mom, fly with Dad on Dumbo and go through The Small, Small World (yes, we're still singing the song!). Our time in Hong Kong was fun too, with lots of 'retail therapy' (as it was also Mommy's birthday) with some great dinners and some R&R. It's only 3 weeks now before Ian starts his summer vacation to Europe and the US and this week marks the last week of school too.

Ian Graduates!

Yes, it's that end of school time again and this year see's Ian graduate from his 'Nursery Aboard' class and he will next year move to the 'bigger' school up the road, with lots of new exciting classes and facilities. Ian's school report was a good one this year (again!) as you'll read below. In our photo's we see Ian with Teacher Camilla walking onto stage to collect his graduating certificate and some happy shots of Ian with Mom and Camilla too. We are proud parents today of our wondeful little boy, who is growing up oh-so-fast!

IAN'S SCHOOL REPORT:

Self-Help Skills Ian enjoys being independent; he always uses the bathroom and washers his hands unassisted. During snack time he makes sure that he has tissues and his water bottle. He can put on his shoes by himself.

Gross Motor Skills Ian enjoys and is confident at jumping from heights, climbing and swinging through the playground. He is completely fearless. He is learning to do a unassisted ‘roly-poly’ in Baba-Grow and to throw and catch a ball correctly.

Fine Motor Skills Ian is our champion at threading beads onto a string faster than anyone. He has become more confident in cutting out shapes with little or no assistance. Ian is learning to hold his pencil and paintbrush correctly.

Language Skills Ian’s vocabulary has grown enormously since the beginning of the academic year. He is very confident in his speech and can pronounce very well. He has excellent communication with his teachers and classmates.

Listening Skills Ian thoroughly enjoys story time and has a great memory for recalling all the details of the story read. Ian listens well to instructions. However, he may occasionally need encouragement to retain this focus to the task at hand.

Academic Skills Ian has progressed enormously this year. He can now recognize colours and shapes. He is working hard to remember what we have been covering in class. Ian can recognise his own name, and is able to trace it without any assistance. Ian thoroughly enjoys school.

Most Favourite Activities Cutting out shapes and cutting up paper are Ian’s favourite activity at school. He also enjoys Baba-Grow sessions and Music and Movement class with Teacher Air. He loved making and eating banana muffins in cooking class.

Most Favorite Activities Ian loves to swim but generally enjoys all of the activities on offer at school. He keeps himself busy by playing with a wide variety of toys and puzzles.

Happy June

We are between trips away but Ian has still been busy. He is off to Hong Kong in two weeks, but since going to Singapore last month Ian has said goodbye to his girlfriend Katrina who has now returned to Serbia. Our best wishes to Michael, Natasha and Katrina on a safe and happy return home. This was their last photo together - and know that Ian misses Katrina!

Ian spent this past weekend having family fun at the Oceanarium in Bangkok. It's a place he's been to before but each time is something new and exciting. This time Ian got to watch the Scuba diver feed the fish in the massive fish tanks - you can see Ian with the diver in our photo! And of course a happy family photo taken of us all at the beginning of our fun day. Ian also got to see a 4D movie, hence the attractive glasses that Ian and Mom are both wearing! To round off our weeknend, Ian also got to have brunch at the Four Seasons Hotel, which is where we see him standing next to the spice cart at one of the hotel's restaurants.

Singapore Sling

Ian went to Singapore this weekend, to visit Mommy and Daddy's friend Sue. We all had a great time, as you'll see. Ian got to ride on the 'Singapore Flyer' which is the 165 metre high iconic ferris wheel on Singapore harbour - what a ride and what a view! We also hung out along the river front where we saw a exhibition of horseshoes (shoes as horses!) then Mom and Dad got some time for 'retail therapy' (yes, shopping) while Ian played at the pool with Sue. You'll see that Ian has adopted giving the 'V' for Victory sign in many of his photo's now. We're not sure where he got it from but Dad decided to try it too.

Hua Hin 'an all that!

Ian spent the weekend at the beach to escape the Bangkok heat and enjoy some much needed water time. We headed for Hua Hin, a resort town that is a short drive from Bangkok though on a busy holiday weekend it can take a while as we found out. Ian got more than a beach and water this weekend too, with a pony ride along the sand to cap a long sunny Saturday by the pool. He grinned the entire time he was on his pony and mastered the reins well. It wasn't all sun though as you'll see, since we also encountered a massive storm with dramatic darkened skies across the Gulf of Thailand. Ian also got to play the Xylophone - you'll see Ian pictured with the young man who played for us at dinner.

We're back!

It's been a few weeks since our last Blog post, much due to lots of travelling. Dad has been in China and to upcountry Thailand, while Mom and Ian went to Ireland and England (as our photo's show) to enjoy some wonderful family time. You can see Ian with Grandma Lily, Grandpa Frank and Aunties Olive and Valerie. Ian is also seen stealing a kiss from Mommy at the Wineport Lodge in heart of Ireland, while we also see Ian playing in Nanny Margaret's garden and hanging out with Cousin George who Ian is always excited to see. We're off to the beach this weekend then off to Singapore the following week, so plenty of new photo's to come!

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

Yes we're here again, another St.Patty's Day where Ian gets to celebrate his Irish heritage. In today's photo Ian sports his favorite green sweat top and hat, whilst waving his Irish flags. It was only last week that Dad got chatting with a fella whose first comment when he saw Ian was "with hair like that his name must be Liam!". He was close! But clearly Ian looks like a true Irish redhead now, of that we cannot dispute. Happy St.Patricks Day son - not long now until you get to drink Guinness!

Uncle Richard visits Ian

This weekend Ian's God Father, Richard paid a brief but welcomed visit. Ian got to hang out, go on a boat trip and enjoy some fun in the swimming pool too. We visited the famous Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, taking a longtail boat there. You can see Ian with Richard and the Temple in the background as we approached. Up close the Temple is very tall, and very steep as you'll see from the photo's taken looking up. We didn't get Ian to the top!

Khao Yai National Park

Ian headed to the mountains on north east Thailand this weekend, to stay in the cooler climes of the Khao Yai National Park. We all had a great weekend, enjoying yet another beautiful resort with fantastic views of the national parklands. Dad enjoyed some golf, while Ian got some more pool time in as well as made friends with his baby-sitter (pictured) so that Mom and Dad could enjoy some terrific food at the resturants. Ian even got to pet a baby elephant, though he is still a little unsure of this wonderful animal.

International Day at School

Ian's school held International Day on Friday. Each student wore a national dress and/or the colours of their country and wore the flag of their country around their neck, including their parents' national flags too. Ian was the only child wearing 3 flags, and he elected to wear his Irish rugby shirt! The kids then did a big parade then sang on stage (you can see Ian with the microphone and his teacher, Camilla in our photo!) and danced to some national songs before heading to the classrooms for some national dishes. It was great to see many children in so many colourful national costumes. This has to be one of the most international schools ever!

Fun in the Sun!

Ian is just back from a half-term holiday break. He went with Mom & Dad to Krabi, is southern Thailand. It is a beautiful part of the country, with a number of islands scattered along the coast making for great scenery especially the dramatic rock outcrops (like you can see in our photos). Ian stayed at a great hotel, with it's own beach front and, most importantly,a kids pool and Kids Club where he spent most of his time. The weather was great, with some terrific sunsets as you can see in the photos. Ian also got to make new friends, meet some of the local kids on the beach and went out on a snorkelling trip with Mom & Dad to the Phi Phi islands on a super fast speedboat.

Ian's Birthday Party!

What a great time we had last weekend at Ian's 3rd Birthday Party. Mom and Dad threw open the doors to the apartment and along came 22 of Ian's school, building and playgroup friends (and some Mom's and dad's too!). What a houseload! Ian's party theme was Spiderman (his latest craze!) so his birthday cake was naturally designed as such. Ian started his day having his face made up like Spiderman too! We also had a magic show, with the highlight of the act being the magical appearance of two bunnies much to the delight of all the kids. One of our photo's shows Ian and his buddies with the bunnies while another shows all the kids lined up attentively watching the show. Of course, like all good magic acts, they finished with a suprise banner to wish our little star a very happy birthday!

Many thanks to everyone both near and far who sent Ian birthday wishes and presents. He was a very lucky boy again this year and he really loved all the cards and gifts very, very much.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN!!!!

Yes, it's January 22nd and our little boy isn't so little anymore. In fact he's three years old now as he is quite proud to tell you! Ian has had a great day, with a cake at school to celebrate and the making a birthday hat to wear too. Daddy made it home in time especially to have tea ... and more cake, with another candle to blow out as we see pictured. Ian was (of course) spolied with gifts from friends and family. He now has his own PC, which as he says is the "same, same" as Mommy's lap top. We show Ian tonight enjoying his cake, another of which he will get on Sunday when he has his party and a few little friends round to play. More pictures from that event later. Happy Birthday, son. Christmas in Chiang Mai

Ian spent his Christmas holiday in the northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai. We stayed at the incredible Mandarin Oriental Hotel (images shown), which offers spectacular surroundings, spectacular service and a stay that is restful and complete. The Mandarin boasts its own rice (Paddy) fields which is where Ian got a chance to see how rice is harvested and inspected some fields with Mom. Ian also took part in the annual rice blessing ceremony and he joined the band who played for the dancers - Ian got in on both pieces of action as you'll see from the photos! Ian also got to ride around in a rikshaw, as well as a horse-drawn carriage all which made him (and Mom and Dad) all rather lazy during our stay as we got taken wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted! On Christmas Eve, Mom and Dad were treated to a cocktail party overlooking the rice fields, and the fields had been lit up with thousands of candle-lit lanterns. It made for a very special setting on a very special night ... in a very special place.

Safari Saturday
Ian spent the day at Bangkok's Safari World. What a great time we had. The Park is extremely well organized and has plenty to see and do - a drive-through safari range, whale and dolphin show, lots of animals and fun stuff to do. Ian loved the giraffe's which you can feed from a platform above the park they roam in. Initially Ian was a bit concerned but soon got into the swing of things. However, Ian was far from happy when it came to being with the Orangutans! Mom and Dad got to play with them instead and had a nice little 'family' snap taken of us! Mom got to feed a Tiger cub and Ian jumped on board to enjoy the action. Our final photo shows Ian racing along some of the shaded walkways around the park. He's now at the stage where he's keen to run off and explore so he's keeping us fit at chasing him around. And yes, all day long around the park echoed the seasonal songs of Christmas - but t'was not a snowflake in sight. Just a perfect 80 degrees.

Ian's Christmas Show

On Ian's last day of term at the IPC School, Mom and Dad attended the annual Christmas Show. Ian's class was second on and did two 'numbers' - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Wheels on the Bus. Ian was a little quiet on the first song, but showed intense vigour and energy for the second as he loves to shout the chorus lines! Ian got to hang out with his girlfriend, Katrina too so he was a very happy boy.

Koh Samui

Ian spent eight glorious days on the island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. Great weather, a fantastic villa and wonderful food made for a terrific vacation with Nanny Margaret and Grandad Paddy, Mom and Dad. Here are just a few photo's from hundreds taken(!) showing Ian and Mom having fun. Ian became quite the swimmer while we were there, as he spent a lot of time in the pool. Ian now swims around quite confidently (with his ring, of course!).

Happy Loy Krathong!

Ian celebrated the annual Loy Krathong festival (Nov 12th) in style, wearing his traditional Thai outfit while lighting his 'Krathong'. We went to our local park, which has a large lake where we helped Ian launch his Krathong (which means raft in Thai and traditionally made from banana tree leaves). The launch was done under the night of the full moon, where across Thailand many people will release small rafts like this on rivers, ponds and lakes to celebrate. It is a wonderful event, very colourful and romantic too! Ian was helped by Nanny Margaret, and got a hug from his girlfriend Nina too!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Look at our little man ..... as "Little Rambo"! Ian got dressed up for the annual Halloween event, wearing his costume to school as well as back at home as the other trick 'n treaters came knocking on our door. Ian was generous with helpings of candy to all the kids who came to visit. And Mom and Dad got into costume too, as they headed off to a party, sporting 60's attire and a hint of Austin Powers!

Futsal!

Last weekend Dad and Ian spent the morning at the company Futsal Competition. Dad even came out of soccer retirement and played in one game with the Marketing Team (but we lost!). Ian got to hang out with a number of friends who were all eager to see him sport his footballing skills, which Ian ably did. It was a fun day!

Ian's Trip Home

Mom and Ian went to Ireland and England last month, allowing for some time to catch up with family and friends. Ian went to the farm with Auntie Valerie, and spent a lot of time with Grandpa Frank and Grandma Lily. And of course, Ian had to hang out with Cousin George, seen here pulling faces as only boys can! It was a great trip, with some beautiful weather which meant plenty of time in the park for Ian.

Tuk Tuk's are fun!

Anyone familiar with Bangkok will know that Tuk Tuk's are a popular form or transport - and much more fun than a regular taxi! Dare we say it, but Ian loves to ride in them and occasionally we take him on one (when he is good!). Last Sunday was one such day and we 'tore' through the streets on our way home from a fun day out. As usual Ian isn't content with just riding on the Tuk Tuk but he had to sit in the rivers seat. We also see Mom and Ian with the wind in their hair! And finally Ian in one of his other favorite places at the moment - the play center at Central World Mall. Mom & Dad have to drag Ian (literally!) from this place as there is too much to do and so many balls to play with. Ian and Mommy head to Ireland next week, so we'll not see Ian on the Blog until early October but we'll have plenty of photo's to share then.

Chokchai Farm

Ian had quite the weekend. Firstly on Friday Ian joined Dad (and Mom) at a business 'away day' with Dad's department. We headed to a hotel in central Thailand overlooking the lush green hills of the Khao Yai National Park. The weather was great, and so much cooler than the city. Ian got to meet many of Steve's work associates and have fun with them. Ian and Dad toured the gardens and found a banana tree, so Dad could show Ian just where all the bananas come from. On Saturday we took a trip to Chokchai Farm, which is famous in Thailand for their great steak restaurants and the farm they operate which the public can visit. Ian got to feed the cows and deer (Mom even milked a cow!), meet the Cowboy ranchers (Mommy got to ride a horse!) and play on the motorbikes. It was a great weekend!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

It is Mothers Day today here in Thailand, which is also the Queen's birthday and a national holiday. We mark this auspicious occasion with a photo of Ian and Mommy having fun together playing at 'piggy backs'.

Island in the sun!

Ian spent this weekend on the island of Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand. We stayed at a beautiful beach resort where Ian was spoiled for choice between the various pools and the sea. Ian actually found the foot bath tap just as much fun to play with as you'll see from the photo's though he really did spend a lot more time in the pool, we can assure you. You'll also see Ian playing it cool, with his shades on wrapped in a towel as he relaxes after another session in the pool with Dad. Ian also watched the sun set while seated in the back of a small rowing boat. He looks quite at peace with the world as twilight falls, doesn't he?

Greetings from Down Under

What an eventful time we had in Australia! We set off for Sydney just over two weeks ago with the plan to meet up with our friends Colin, Fiona and Jessica and Jez and Catherine and spend some quality time hanging out on the north shore of Sydney. Little did we know what was in store for us just a few days into the trip. Daddy got sick and ended up in hospital for four days, closely followed by Colin (Jessica's Daddy), with Daddy going back into hospital a second time for another two days! This small incursion to the holiday unfortunately quashed some of the highlights we had planned, but under the circumstances we made the most of the trip and ended on a high note with blue sunny skies and wonderful winter beach weather. While we did get to see the famous Opera House, alas we didn't get to photo Ian against its backdrop but we can assure you he did see this wonderful sight. Our photo's show Ian having fun in a few locations around the north shore, where he quickly found all the parks and beaches to have fun on. You'll also see Colin and Jessica too. Both Ian and Jessica had a blast, and mostly remained friends throughout the trip but with only a few squabbles here and there!

We loved being in 'Oz'. The Pie shops, wine and coffee bars along with the relaxed lifestyle that seems to be led by most and the most amazing beaches ever means we'll be going back for sure to finish off what we planned to do. Now we are back home in Thailand, Ian is next off to the island of Koh Samui this weekend, so more beach shots to follow next week.

Socatots Season Ends!

Ian has been going to Socatots on a Sunday, where he has been advancing his soccer skills. Today was the last day of the program until September, so we took along the camera. You'll see Ian with Daddy learning some balancing skills and Ian having some fun with his friend Thomas at the park afterwards. The part which most of the kids seem to enjoy the most is at the end of the session where their instructor, Bogi, gives out stickers - which is why we see all the kids huddled on the floor together looking serious!

Pattaya!

What better a place to be to steal a kiss from Mom than a 'sun-kissed' weekend in Pattaya? And to get to hang with Mom & Dad by the pool along with some friendly poolside waiters, one of whom we see Ian pictured with. Pattaya is a short 2 hour drive from Bangkok and we stayed at a hotel that overlooked the Gulf of Thailand with an incredible view to awake to. The sun shone for us all weekend despite the fact we are now well into the rainy season. We also see Ian playing in the pool with his friend Jasmine who came to visit us while we were there. What a great weekend we had!

Ian Graduates!

As many of you know, this is Ian's first year at school and today he graduated with his class, the kids of Nursery Farm! Our photo show's Ian up on stage as he collected his certificate (Ian is in the middle, wearing his hat - as if you needed telling!). Meanwhile, Mom received Ian's first school report which we have great pleasure in re-producing for you below. It was written by ian's Teacher, Susan. Enjoy!

Self-Help Skills

Ian still needs help in some areas of the self-help skills but he will always attempt to take his shoes on and off. I am amazed at how well Ian can put his socks on. Ian will attempt to undress himself ready for swimming.

Gross Motor Skills

When balancing on the low beam in the activity room Ian, is a little nervous but he does attempt to cross it with help. I have recently observed that Ian is using the small climbing apparatus by himself.

Fine Motor Skills

Ian will attempt to hold a crayon and paint brush by himself but does need help and encouragement to stay on task.

Language Skills

Ian’s vocabulary has widened considerably this term and he is stringing 1-2 words together clearly. He can express himself extremely well in all situations.

Listening Skills

Ian will listen for short periods of time when we are reading stories and will follow and understand instructions with some encouragement.

Academic Skills

Ian has improved academically and will consistently match given shapes on our class shape wall. Ian will always repeat colours and he is currently working hard to count 1-5 in proper order.

Most Favorite Activities

Ian loves to swim but generally enjoys all of the activities on offer at school. He keeps himself busy by playing with a wide variety of toys and puzzles.

Happy June!

To honour the England football match today in Trinidad, Ian and Dad both wore their England soccer shirts to 'Socatots', where Ian now plays on a Sunday morning. Socatots is a Brazilian-run soccer program for 2 and 3 year olds in Bangkok and Ian has made a fine start - it is also a great way for him to burn up the enormous amount of energy he has!

Two weekends ago we had a visit from our friend Sue from Singapore. We had a fun time and (among many activities) had brunch at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which is where we see Ian and Mom having some fun and overlooking the boats on the Chao Phya River.

We weighed Ian this last week, with him coming in at a 23 lbs. While still quite small for his age, he's very healthy and sleeps better than any parent could ever want. His is still quite behind the growth curve even for his level of prematurity, but the Doctors are not concerned. He is now also copying just about any word he hear's Mom and Dad say (so we have to be careful!) and he has mastered his 1 - 10 and the words to "Twinkle Twinkle little star". Ian also just got his first time-out at school too. In his school report he was cited as having been (to quote) "hitting another child with a plastic hammer". Oh dear Ian, what a naughty boy you have been!

Little Drummer Boy!

While Ian was in the UK, he got to play on Grandad Bob's Drum Kit. Now Ian has a small toy drum at home which he bashes away on and shows quite good rhythm too. Upon being seated on Grandad's kit, Ian took no time at all (and I mean no time) to pick up the sticks and play! Not only did he use both sticks, he was striking each drum and symbol with great skill (given his arms weren't quite long enough to always reach!). We were all very impressed. Ian enjoyed every minute of it and I rather suspect we'll be needing to get him more than one drum at home now.

European Vacation!

It's been a few weeks since our last Blog post, but as many know Ian and Mom have been in Ireland and England enjoying some R&R. Dad joined the pair in late April and a few good days of fun, sun and laughs were had by all. We also spent time in the heart of Ireland at a wonderful lakeside lodge with Barbara's parents. You'll see Ian with Grandad Frank in one of our pictures staring out over the lake. Ian had a blast, and got to feed the ducks on the jetty which he found most amusing. In the UK, Ian got to visit Cambridge but of more fun to him was to water Nanny's plants and climb the garden tree as well as get to see all his first and second cousins for hours of fun in the yard. Ian even got to play on Grandad Bob's drumkit and showed a rather scary ability at his how good his drumming skills are already! It's been a wonderful month for Ian, and he has continued to develop with the fullness of his sentences now much more evident in his day-to-day vocabulary. He knows what he wants and he lets us know in an often firm and demanding way! It's back to Thailand tonight, so until our next post take care (photo's of Ian on the Drumkit to follow in the next post).

Hong Kong was fun .....

Last weekend Ian was hanging out with his girlfriend, Jessica. As ever, the cuddly pair shared the hobby horse, with Ian taking the reins and leading the way. Ian also spent time at the park, and is becoming quite the climber. We have to watch his every move as he tries to get on every ladder or any frame that takes him up! He is actually a very good climber, confident and quick. He also loves to dangle from the climbing bars as well so maybe the early signs of a gymnast are showing?!

Ian also continues to grow his vocabulary. He's still babbling away, but now is communicating with confidence. He is quick to say what he wants (or doesn't want) even if it means enthusiastic pointing. His numbers are getting better, though he seems to favor the numbers 8, 3, and 2 for some reason. He loves to 'chat' on the phone and will speak for several minutes explaining, in quite some detail, what he has been doing. It's very cute to watch, as he clearly knows exactly what he is talking about!

Ian's First!

Here it is, Ian's very first school picture! Ian's sitting at the session at his IPC School was 'fair'. He didn't pose in the way we know he can and wasn't in top smiling form, but non-the-less it's still a great photo for the archives.

HAPPY EASTER!

It has been a relatively quiet month since our return home from Bali and Singapore. Ian has gone back to school, now attending 3 days per week since he likes it so much. It's getting much hotter here now as we approach the summer with mid-April being the traditinal Thai summer holiday, called 'Songkran'. Mom and Ian will escape the heat in early April and head to the UK and Ireland and Dad will join later in the month. But none of this occurs until we have a family trip to Hong Kong next weekend, primarily so Ian can see his girlfriend, Jessica and Dad can watch the internationally famous Hong Kong Seven's Rugby tournament.

In Thailand we don't see anything related to Easter. Not a Bunny, an egg and not the slighest bit of candy! So this year, we simply send you our warmest greetings to one and all that wherever you are that you enjoy a safe, happy and fun Easter.

Singapore Sue!

Our travels this past weekend took Ian, Mom and Dad to Singapore. What a beautiful city, immaculately maintained with so many wonderful shops, restaurants, sights and sounds. We witnessed 'Chingay' the annual Chinese New Year parade (the largest in Asia) and took a stroll along the river walk as well as spent our hard earned dollars in the many shops on offer. Of particular note during the trip was meeting up again with Sue Weston, a long time friend from who now lives in Singapore. It goes to show what a small world we continue to live in and so Sue finally got to meet Ian for the first time. We had dinner out on Saturday night too.

Ian also got to see the Singapore Flyer, which when it opens in March will be the largest ferris wheel in the world (beating London). One thing is for sure, we will be going back to Singapore to see Sue again and enjoy this most beautiful part of Asia as well as ride the Flyer.

Finally, we must share with you that taking photo's of Ian these days in quite a challenge! He doesn't stand still at all and refuses to look at the camera! His vocabulary is building nicely now too, though his favorite two words are "No" and "More" which he uses all too often! He can tell you his age and can hum the tunes to a couple of songs. He is also fascinated by airplanes, cars, fire engines, motorbikes and turtles. But then again what little boy isn't?!

Beautiful Bali!

Ian has just returned from a wonderful 10-day vacation to the island of Bali, in Indonesia. The trip was made more special since Jessica was there for Ian to hang out with and Ian took the opportunity to catch a couple of outdoor baths with Jessica where they even decided to share the tub! The weather was awesome, though with a couple of tropical storms thrown in just to remind us of what mother nature was capable of doing even in tropical paradise. Most of the time Mom and Dad hung out with Ian at the beach or pool, though Ian spent each morning with fellow toddlers in the Petit Club (a wonderful concept whereby Mom and Dad get the morning free to sun bathe and drink cocktails with Colin and Fiona!). Ian loved his Petit Club sessions, learning songs and playing in the 'petit' pool. The resort Ian stayed had the most wonderful landscaped gardens, which is where we see Ian in a few of his holiday poses.

This weekend we head off to Singapore. Ian has booked a mini suite at the Mandarin Oriental to pamper himself in luxury and celebrate Valentines Day in style. Watch out credit card!
