December in the Sun!
We kicked off December with a short trip to the beach. Phuket is an island off the south west coast of Thailand and a one-hour flight from Bangkok so it makes for an easy destination. Mom, Dad and Ian headed there for five days and had a wonderful time. It was a pleasant 85F everyday, with the sea temperature close to bathtub warmth. Like every little boy, Ian and Dad had fun playing in the pool (OK, Dad throwing ian more like!). Ian also met a baby elephant on the beach and Mom got very close to it. In fact too close! As you can see Barbara got 'snogged' by "Yum Yum". Ian was very hesitant to say the least and generally wasn't comfortable with the elephant until it headed off down the beach to leave him playing in the sand.

And finally a cute Story ...... Ian has a small but growing vocabulary. One of his favorite words is "Nana" as in Banana (his favorite fruit). he asks regularly for it. One of the Skytrain Stations we pass through when we ride downtown is called Nana (pronounced "Nah-Nah"). When Ian hears this announcement, he perks up chirping away the words "Nana, Nana ..." with every expectation he'll get one. Lesson learnt ...... we now take Banana's on the Skytrain with us!
