Ian Karl
Known to his parents-to-be as "Bumper", Ian Karl was born eleven weeks early after his Mom, Barbara developed Preeclampsia. Ian was born on January 22, 2006 and started his life in the new born intensive care unit (NICU) at the local hosptial.

On Ian's Balcony!
Here we see the Ian with Mom and Dad on the balcony of the new home. Downtown Bangkok in the back ground clearly evident! This morning was lovely and sunny and Ian couldn't wait to put his hat and shades on, especially since Mom and Dad did too. We couldn't get the shades off him all morning as he paraded around the house with them!
We also had our first visitors this weekend with Colin, Fiona and Jessica visiting from Hong Kong. Ian and Jessica jumped into the Radio Flyer wagon nd set off for the pool as soon as they could. Fun was had by all, as I am sure you can imagine.
We've Moved in!
At last, we are all moved in. A 40 foot container arrived on Saturday and with it came our life possessions. A ten-man crew unloaded it all (and unpacked it too) while Ian looked on. It was like Christmas Day for Ian with all his toys showing up. He hasn't seen them for many weeks and judging by the delight on his face he recognized them quickly and got stuck into playing with them again. Later in the day we headed down to the pool in our apartment building to cool off. Like many Thai buildings, there is often a Buddist shrine on the property which is where we see Ian and Mom pictured tonight. Now that Dad has all his camera equipment back, we are back in action for some proper photo updates. We are looking forward to visitors this weekend, our first in Thailand and we've only been in our apartment 2 weeks. We have also begun planning our first long weekend away for later in October to try out the beaches. Now that will be fun!
Touchdown Thailand!
110 days after formally announcing our decison to go to Thailand, we've arrived! We left London on Thursday night with Ian enjoying all the frills of Business Class travel. Ian got his own bed seat and in tonights photo's we see Ian and Mom enjoyng their flight as well as Ian playing with his headset. He watched plenty of cartoons on the flight, though with a bed that went horizontal (thank you Brirish Airways!) he also slept for seven hours. What thankful parents we were!
The next photo posting will be from Bangkok. We have spent our first day here getting settled, though we do not move into our new home until next weekend.
