Time at the beach!
After several weeks of settling in, working long hours and generally finding our way about our new life, we took a little R&R time and headed to the beach. We went to Hua Hin, a resort town about 2 hours drive from Bangkok and also the home of the King of Thailand when he is not in residence in the capital. We treated ourselves to a villa on the beach and needless to say we had a fantastic time.

Ian saw the ocean for the first time and thus the beach too. He seemed a little unsure of the sand but slowly became more accustomed to it. We also spent plenty of time in the pool, though Ian seemed to have more fun throwing (decorative) stones into the water than from getting into it as you'll see from some of our photo's. Mom and Dad got some time alone too, as the Resort had baby-sitters on hand to look after Ian at night. Sweet!
As you'll see from some of our photo's Ian got up to lots and posed on many an occasion for snaps to be taken. He was a real hit with the locals and gained several fans during his stay. We see Ian on the beach with a young man who took a shine to Ian's smile as they played 'hoop' together. The rest of the photo's speak for themselves, so enjoy.

We are back in Bangkok just in time for Halloween though clearly not as big an event as in the US. Still, Ian has a party to go to and hopefully we'll post some picys of his antics along with the other ex-pats kids he hangs out with.

Still not well .....

Despite bouncing back last weekend from illness, Ian is again sick. He has a temperature, cough and generally isn't feeling good. We guess that all these bouts of illness are as a direct result of starting school and being among so many other children. So this weekend was spent mostly hanging out with Ian while nursing and comforting him. Next weekend we head to the beach for a long weekend so hopefully by then Ian will be fully better and ready to enjoy the sand and sun. On other matters, the Bangkok 'rainy' season seems to be coming to an end - at last. The locals tell us it has gone on for a long time this year (typical!). However, we seem to now be enjoying some sunnier skies with the threat of daily storms getting ever less likely. The early morning temperatures are great before the day heats up so we are learning to get out early to get things done. In tonights photo, we see Mom and Ian from earlier in the week. Isn't he looking like a proper little boy now?!

Down the Park ... and having fun
Ian has been sick this last week. His first day at school and the end the week before ended up with Ian getting conjunctivitus and tonsilitis! He even had a reaction to the medicine he was prescribed so after a frantic visit to the hospital last week we finally got the right medication and Ian made a slow recovery. Suffice to say Ian was back on form on Saturday so Mom and Dad took Ian to the park, which is where we see Mom and Ian in the photos tonight. Mom and Ian are standing in front of a large buddist sculpture at the park entrance and we also see them both hanging out on a park bench watching the world go by. Our local park is about 5 minutes from the house and is adorned with modern art sculptures all round it. All rather nice on a Sunday afternoon stroll! We also see Ian "frolicking" in the balls which he has in his play room .... and back to the fun-loving Ian we all know and love as his week of sickness made for a rather miserable little boy.
Mom and Dad are finally getting the home sorted and have now beeen able to have a dinner date 'sans' Ian, who stays at home with Wilai, our maid. This new found freedom for Mom and Dad comes at a welcome time as we we are now well into the 'honeymoon phase' of our time here and are now beginning to feel comfortable with our new surroundings.
